Professional Photographer in Mallorca

I work from Mallorca full-time, which means I do not fly in for a weekend and leave. I know the light here in February just as well as in August, and that matters when you are planning a shoot. The island changes throughout the year, and so does the quality of natural light you get.

Why hire a local photographer who lives on Mallorca year-round?

Most of my work happens between Palma and the northern coast. I drive to shoots in Deia, Soller, Pollenca and the southeast beaches regularly, so travel time is something I factor into scheduling without making it complicated for clients. If you are based in a remote finca or a hotel in the mountains, I have done those drives enough times to know how long they actually take, not what Google Maps claims.

The light on this island is one of the reasons I moved here. In the early mornings, especially along the eastern coastline, you get a soft, directional quality that is difficult to replicate with artificial sources. During midday, the contrast can be harsh, which is why I typically schedule portrait and couple sessions during the golden hour or in shaded environments. For real estate and commercial work, I use HDR techniques and supplemental lighting to balance interior and exterior exposures.

What types of photography do I offer?

My typical shooting week looks different every month. In spring and autumn, I shoot a lot of portraits and lifestyle sessions for clients who visit Mallorca for a week and want images that do not look like standard holiday snapshots. During summer, wedding photography takes priority, often with early call times to avoid the midday heat. Winter is when I handle most real estate and commercial projects, since the softer light and empty locations make architecture work easier.

  • Portrait photography — headshots, actor portfolios, and personal branding for entrepreneurs based in Palma and beyond.
  • Wedding photography — intimate ceremonies, elopements, and destination weddings across the island.
  • Lifestyle photography — relaxed couple sessions, family shoots, and content creation for creators visiting Mallorca.
  • Real estate photography — villas, apartments, and hotel interiors with HDR and drone coverage.
  • Commercial photography — brand campaigns, product shoots, and restaurant imagery for businesses on the island.
  • Headshot photography — corporate portraits, LinkedIn photos, and executive branding with portable studio lighting.

How I work with clients

Clients often ask whether I bring a full team to every shoot. The answer depends on the project. Most portrait and couple sessions are just me, a camera bag, and occasionally a portable light modifier. For commercial hotel shoots or large real estate projects, I work with an assistant and sometimes a separate drone operator if aerial images are required.

I shoot with full-frame mirrorless systems, which gives me flexibility in low light and the ability to use shallow depth of field when the situation calls for it. My approach is to keep gear minimal and focus on what is in front of the camera. Technical perfection matters, but only if it serves the image rather than distracting from it.

What makes Mallorca light special for photography?

The Mediterranean climate delivers more than 300 days of sunshine per year. That sounds like a blessing, and it is, but it also means you need a photographer who understands how to manage strong sunlight. The Tramuntana mountains create microclimates and shadow pockets that can change within minutes. Coastal haze softens backlight during summer evenings. Olive groves reflect a warm, green-tinted fill light that flatters skin tones. These are not theoretical observations. They are practical facts I use on every shoot.

How far in advance should you book?

For weddings, I recommend contacting me at least six months ahead, especially if your date falls between May and September. Portrait and lifestyle sessions can usually be scheduled within one to two weeks. Real estate shoots are often booked with shorter notice because they depend on property availability and weather conditions.

If you are considering a shoot on Mallorca, the best starting point is a quick phone call. I can tell you honestly whether your idea fits the season, the location, and the available light. Not every concept works year-round here, and I would rather adjust the plan in advance than deliver compromised results.
