Wedding Photographer in Mallorca

I photograph weddings across Mallorca, from elopements with two witnesses in Deia to full-day celebrations at fincas in the countryside. My focus is on small to medium-sized weddings where I can actually spend time with the couple rather than managing a large vendor team.

Small weddings vs. large events: why I prefer the intimate approach

Small weddings are different from large events, and I prefer the former. When there are fifteen guests instead of a hundred, the timeline loosens up. You get to eat dinner together, not just pose for group photos. As a photographer, this means I am working with real moments rather than manufactured ones. That said, I do take on larger destination weddings when the couple values documentary-style coverage over staged formality.

Mallorca offers a range of locations that suit different wedding styles. The southeast beaches near Cala d'Or provide clean backgrounds and golden light in the late afternoon. Fincas in the central plain give you rustic architecture and olive groves. Palma's old town works well for civil ceremonies followed by a dinner at one of the restaurants around the cathedral. Each location comes with its own logistical considerations, and I help couples plan timing around light and travel rather than just picking the prettiest backdrop.

Understanding Mallorca light for your wedding day

Weather and light are the two factors that determine how your wedding photos look, regardless of how much you spend on decor. Mallorca has strong sun for most of the year, which can be beautiful or brutal depending on the time of day. I always recommend scheduling the ceremony and couple portraits in the two hours before sunset during summer. In spring and autumn, you have more flexibility since the sun sits lower and the light is softer for longer. Winter weddings are rare here, but when they happen, the diffused light and empty venues create a very specific mood that I enjoy shooting.

The best wedding locations on Mallorca

  • Deia and Soller — Mountain villages with stone architecture and sea views. Best for intimate ceremonies.
  • Fincas in the central plain — Rustic estates with olive groves and open terraces. Ideal for reception dinners.
  • Southeast beaches — Cala d'Or and surrounding coves offer clean sand and warm sunset light.
  • Palma old town — Cobblestone streets and historic courtyards for civil ceremonies and couple portraits.
  • Northern coast — Pollenca and Alcudia provide dramatic cliffs and quieter beaches.

What happens on your wedding day

A typical wedding day for me starts about two hours before the ceremony. I spend that time with whichever partner is getting ready, documenting the quiet part of the morning rather than jumping straight into posed shots. During the ceremony, I work discreetly, usually without flash unless the venue requires it. The couple portrait session happens either right after the ceremony or during the golden hour, depending on the timeline. I do not drag this out. Twenty to thirty minutes is usually enough if the location and light are right.

My editing style is restrained. I correct exposure and white balance, but I do not apply heavy color grading or skin smoothing. The goal is for the images to look like your wedding, not a filtered version of it. You receive a complete gallery, not just a highlight reel of twenty images. Every moment that was worth capturing makes it into the final delivery, usually within four to six weeks.

Do you need a second photographer?

For weddings with more than forty guests, I recommend a second photographer. This ensures simultaneous coverage of both partners getting ready and multiple angles during the ceremony. For elopements and ceremonies under twenty guests, one photographer is usually sufficient and keeps the presence less intrusive.

Destination wedding planning tips

If you are traveling to Mallorca for your wedding, there are a few practical details that make a big difference. First, book your photographer before your florist. Photography is the one vendor you cannot replace last minute, and good photographers are booked six to twelve months in advance on the island. Second, schedule a pre-wedding session. It helps you get comfortable in front of the camera and gives you beautiful images for your save-the-date or wedding website.

Third, plan your ceremony time around sunset, not lunch. A 5 PM ceremony in July gives you golden light for portraits afterward and keeps guests out of the harshest midday sun. Fourth, consider a weekday wedding. Venues and vendors often have better availability from Tuesday to Thursday, and the island is quieter outside of weekends.

Frequently asked questions

I limit myself to twenty-five weddings per year. This allows me to give each couple the attention they deserve and keeps my editing schedule manageable. Dates in May, June, and September fill up fastest.

Yes. Elopement coverage starts at three hours and includes ceremony documentation, couple portraits at one location, and a small gallery delivered within two weeks. I also help with location scouting if you have not decided on a spot yet.

Mallorca rain is usually brief and predictable. I always scout covered alternatives before the wedding day. Indoor venues with large windows, stone archways, and covered terraces provide beautiful backup options. Rainy light is actually some of the most flattering for portraits.

Absolutely. I offer a complimentary consultation call for all couples. If you are visiting Mallorca before the wedding, we can also schedule an in-person meeting and location scout. Many couples combine this with their pre-wedding or engagement session.

If you are planning a wedding on Mallorca and want photography that prioritizes genuine interaction over elaborate staging, I would be happy to talk through your plans. I only book a limited number of weddings per year to keep my schedule sane, so early contact is advisable, especially for spring and summer dates.
